Sharon was a true Christ-like woman of God. Her gentle spirit, smiling countenance, and love of people was witnessed by all that met or was blessed to know her.

Sharon Lee Mason, age 85, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 3:45 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Sharon was born on September 17, 1932 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Cletus L. and Mary E. (Hackleman) Carson. On September 30, 1950, she married Johnie A. Mason in Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2011. Together they had three children. Sharon was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and the University of Illinois Home Extension. She enjoyed cooking and was well-known for the potato salad that she made each year for the Swanwick Picnic which she helped with for most of her life. She loved going to her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by two sons, Mike (Debbie) Mason of Pinckneyville, IL and Matt (Ruth) Mason of Waterloo, IL; nine grandchildren, Kandi Starkweather, Brandi (Jason) Karnes, Joe (Allison) Mason, Dusty (Donald) Palmer, Andrew (Emily) Mason, Ashley (Levi) Lanpher, Lacy (Dillan) York, Lane Mason and Brooke Mason; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Mason; a daughter, Debra Mason; and a sister, Janet Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Jay Lowder officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home Pinckneyville, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday morning at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 9:00 a.m until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Panther Booster Club.
Sharon was one-of-a-kind and completely selfless!! This lady never wanted anything for herself. All she wanted was to take care of her family. She was the most caring, loving and kind woman we have ever known! We can never thank her enough!! Fly high our angel. XOXO
