Kente, I only spoke with you on the phone but , I know you are a very special person to a lot of people and you will be greatly missed by many I pray that your family will come through this sudden call by god , he needed his king back , but to all may god be with the family through this time , love you

To the family and friends of Mr. Kente Blount, I pray for you all. Kente and I have known each other since our days at BTW Middle School, and we also attended Heritage High School together. His smile could light up a room and his motivational speeches could make anyone stop and pay attention. Kente will certainly be missed, but he truly will never be forgotten. Kent'e thanks for the memories from 27th street, Menchville High & coming up the street to chill with you when we was kids. You always been a great friend and we definitely had our laughs. Mr. Kente's Obituaries

Mr. Kente Alexander Blount was born October 11, 1980 at Hampton General Hospital to Carol E. Golden and Kent A. Seward. He was nurtured and raised by the late Pearl H. Seward. Kente developed a love for God, family and football at an early age. He was educated in the Newport News public school system and was an alum of Heritage High School. After High School he began College at Hampton University and completed his education at Saint Augustine's College where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Human Performance and Wellness. During his time at Saint Augustine’s college he married his wife, Jemara Blount. The two of them relocated to New Jersey where he carried out the rest of his life. Kente worked for various school systems where he helped to develop and teach children from ages 6 to 18 with special needs as a para-professional. He also served as a defensive coach and mentor for the Englewood Public and Teaneck Public School Systems. His coaching knowledge and skills help to shape and mold many many athletes. In addition to coaching Kente founded his own personal training and mentoring foundation, Playmaker University. He worked tirelessly to mold his vision in order to instill faith, guidance, and principle in today’s youth.In addition to Kente’s work on the clock, off of the clock, you could find Kente volunteering for youth football programs, training college athletes and forever sharing his passion for God in and out of church. He also volunteered at his church serving in the jr. youth ministry. Kente could also be found reading, working out, and playing football on many semi-pro teams. He recently finished his last season with the New Jersey Blitz. Kente leaves behind his wife, Jemara Blount. Three children , Kendra Blount (Jacquetta Heckstall), Keziah Blount and Kaden Blount; His mother Carol Golden; His father Kent Seward (Deborah Seward.) He also leaves behind two brothers: Antonio Golden and Joshua Cason; two sisters: Kentria Blount and Joshshara Cason and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and extended family. Kente was God fearing, charismatic and fun to be around. Kente will be deeply missed however his purpose was undeniable and his vision sent directly from God will live on forever. He kept his faith in God strong and made a point to motivate and inspire everyone he came in contact with and encouraged everyone to “Obey the Call!” Services for Mr. Blount will be held 1:00p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at Triumph Pentecostal Church of Deliverance 1811 Wickham Ave. Newport News, VA. by Apostle Joseph G. Snead. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Mr. Blount will lie in state one hour prior to service. It is the desire of the Blount  family that you keep them in your prayers and thoughts.The family of the late Mr. Kente Alexander Blount  has entrusted his final care to the staff C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
