I've known him my whole life, he was always cutting up, cracking jokes, ready for fun. My earliest memories are the best, of course, back in the start up days of the saddle club when horses were such a big part of our lives. He was a good friend to my folks. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Leroy “Curley” Kuhn, age 92, of Casey, IL passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Burnside Nursing Home, Marshall, IL. He was born May 4, 1925 in Westfield, IL, the son of Orval William Kuhn and Fayetta Malcom Kuhn. On June 24, 1990 he married Hope Hutson in Casey, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Hope Kuhn, of Casey, IL; son, Doug (Brenda) Kuhn of Casey, IL; daughters, Maria Pharr (Greg) of Wheaton, IL; Grace (Simmons) Kuhn of Mattoon, IL; Aella (Eva) Kuhn of Springville, UT; grandchildren, Tammy (Howard) Wilson and Carol (George) Duniphan; great grandchildren, Amy, Sara, Dylan, Bryor and Breanna and ten great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helta Beasley and one great great grandchild.
Curley was a retired salesman and mechanic for Bud Mitchell Chevrolet in Greenup, IL. He was a Bronze Star US Army veteran of WWII and also a founding member of the local “Coon Club” and the Casey Saddle Club. Curley was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ in Union Center and recently was attending Friendship Fellowship Community Church. Curley’s favorite pastime was taking his family fishing and he was an avid coon hunter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Rural Greenup, IL with graveside military rites by Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
