CHARLESTON, IL – Debra Lynn Bosler, age 62 of Charleston, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home and in the presence of her loving family on Friday, December 15, 2017. There will be no public visitation. The Funeral Service, honoring and celebrating her life, will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Adams Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Following the burial Debbie’s family will host a celebration of her life, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Charleston Elks Club located at 720 Sixth Street. Since Debbie was such a big supporter and encourager of her grandchildren and their sporting events, it is requested that in lieu of flowers, thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the Charleston Booster Club. Gifts may be left at the funeral service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Debbie was born June 25, 1955 in Charleston, a daughter of the late Richard O. “Dick” and Shirley J. (Newell) Combs Toops. She married Gerald W. “Gary” Bosler on June 30, 1973 in Charleston. They celebrated 40 years of marriage prior to his death on July 25, 2013. She is survived by two loving and devoted children, Gabe Bosler and Gara Sims and husband Gary, all of Charleston; four grandchildren, Austin and Raegan Sims and Averie and Grady Bosler; a sister, Shirley Pate of Evansville, Wisconsin and a brother, Quincy Combs of Charleston; her aunt, Pat Keown and cousin, Paula Huddlestun of Charleston; her former stepmother, Marsha Combs-Skinner; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved and kept in close contact with. Debbie was also preceded by a sister, Dixie Dunning.
Debbie was a 1973 graduate of Charleston High School. She was employed with Eastern Illinois University for 25 years and was in the purchasing department at the time of her retirement. She later worked for Heritage Woods as manager of their dining services and for Lester Building as a member of their human resources staff.
Debbie enjoyed motorcycling and spending time with friends and family. Regardless of life’s challenges she continued to remain upbeat and enhanced the lives of those around her with a positive and encouraging attitude. She loved her family dearly, and was especially devoted to her grandchildren. Debbie’s friends and family are blessed with many fond and comforting memories of special times shared.
