Russell "Bud"'s Obituary

Russell Dean Campbell, age 87, of Cutler, IL passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at 5:15 a.m. in Friendship Manor, Nashville, IL.

Russell was born on July 12, 1930 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Oscar and Sybil (Neville) Campbell. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he obtained the rank of Sergeant serving in the Korean War. On June 16, 1954, he married Jean Hallbauer in Germany and she survives. He had retired from working for 37 years as a photographic lithographer at Spartan Printing, Sparta, IL. Russell was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association Chapter Q, the V.F.W., Chester, IL and GCIU Local #383. He loved dancing, fishing, gardening, hunting and was a taxidermist.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jean Campbell of Cutler, IL; two sons, Keith (Crystal) Campbell of Pinckneyville, IL and Dwayne Campbell of Cutler, IL; a daughter, Nyra Campbell of Cape Girardeau, MO; two sisters, Dorothy (Alan) Brons of St. Joseph, MI and Peggy Moore of Old DuQuoin, IL; and three grandchildren, Leah Campbell (Garrett Callender) of Nashville, TN, Ashley Campbell (Kevin Patton) of Benton, IL and Steven Campbell of DuQuoin, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather, Ramos Hicks.

Funeral services will be held at Denmark Baptist Church, Denmark, IL on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Jeff Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Cottom Cemetery, Denmark, IL with military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday morning at Denmark Baptist Church, Denmark, IL from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Cottom Cemetery.
