Verlyn Lynn's Obituary

Verlyn Lynn Reed, age 88, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born February 13, 1929 in Martinsville, IL the son of David Henry Reed and Muriel Clarence Cooper Reed. On May 6, 1950 he married Patsie Abernathie in East St. Louis, IL.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Patsie Reed of Martinsville, IL; son, Brady Reed (Linda) of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Holly Reed Heim (Joe) of Thackerville, OK; daughter in law, Becky Reed of Martinsville, IL; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Doit Reed; sister, Virginia Johnson and sons, Reginald Lynn Reed and Bradley L. Reed.

Verlyn was a lifelong farmer in the Martinsville area and an expert woodworker, craftsman, and an avid angler. He used his many talents making clocks for all his children and grandchildren. He was raised in the Wesley and St. Paul Methodist Churches.

Graveside services and burial will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at St. Paul Cemetery, Martinsville, IL with Bro. Randy Nave officiating.
