Not sure what to say?

Thelma and Jerry were great neighbors and dear friends. They would keep our dog when we had to go out of town and one of the dogs we had was a runner when she world get loose. Jerry chased her all over the neighborhood and bribed her hot dogs to try and catch her. Jerry was a great friend and always very sweet to my boys. He is greatly missed.

Jerry our dear neighboor was a beautiful soul. My girls and I will miss his humor and smile, till we meet again! OX's

Bless whoever wrote Jerry's obit. My mom Geneva Boyd lived on East Delaware St. In Casey. She babysitted and Jerry would bring his dog "Tammy" evèyday at the same time to let the kids enjoy Tammy.

All your memories of Jerry will always have a special place in your heart.Years ago Jerry would be on his bicycle with his dog, Gretchen in his basket. And the years @ Heartland Manor, each one of his stuffed animals had a name. I think his favorite was Chico.and he thought the world of Mary Gard. Always there for him, taking him to church, weiner roasts and special outings. He was one great man and loved the Lord.Rest in peace, Jerry. And he really knew his Bible.

There are things in Jerry's obituary I never knew about him, but I will always remember him as being very nice and kind to all around him. And that is important. We can all only hope to be remembered as warmly as Jerry when we are gone.

I remember Jerry when he was young, as our mothers were good friends. My husband was his pastor for 11 years and I was blessed by the scripture he could quote. My sympathy and prayers for his family and friends.

Jerry and his Mother were great neighbors. They watched our kids grow up and babysat or dog. He will be greatly missed.

Jerry Lee's Obituary

Jerry Lee Trigg, age 75, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 9:02 a.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, Illinois. He was born July 16, 1942 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Fred Trigg and Thelma Ann Hunsaker Trigg.

Survivors include his cousins, Judy (Griffith) Greathouse and husband Larry of Bentonville, AR, Barbara (Sutherland) Wightman and husband Jim of Lone Tree, CO, Bill Cornwell and wife Jan of Lancaster, Ohio and Gary Hunsaker of Yale, IL, his many friends, his loving church family and the residents and staff of Heartland Nursing Center.  In addition to kin, the family acknowledges Mary Gard who was a blessing in his life, providing care, love and rides to church for many years while Jerry was in nursing care.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts and uncles and cousins, Andrea Greathouse and Steve Hunsaker.

Jerry was an Elder of the Casey Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he had a long history of service and faithfulness.  He performed multiple church duties in the service of our Lord, including children's Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school, usher and acolyte.  He did frequent readings and recitations and rang the big church bell at the beginning of the service.  He was known by many Casey residents for his love of children and pets. He was well known for riding his bike around town with his pet dachshund in the basket and handing out gum and candy to eager children.  He decorated his bike and rode it in many 4th of July and home coming parades.  Every Labor Day for many years, Jerry worked tirelessly collecting money for the Jerry Lewis Telethon.

Jerry had a rough start in life due to a birth injury.  This led to him being bullied in school while in Arizona.  At age 16 when the family returned to Casey, Jerry didn't want to enroll in school.  He became self-educated and attained a knowledge of the Bible, Civil War and Old West that exceeded most college educated scholars.  Jerry loved to travel and he relished the opportunity to live in Spain for 6 months and to visit his relatives in many states including Alaska.  Described by many as a gentle soul, Jerry was cooperative and agreeable throughout his life.  His love for animals and children and service to his Lord showed what a loving nature he had.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the community that he loved.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Markwell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey IL.
