Margaret Jane Jones Knope, age 92, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 8:05 a.m. in Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, IL.
Margaret was born on November 1, 1925 in Coulterville, IL, a daughter to Marshall Edward and Katherine Ann (Morton) Jones. On December 25, 1941, she married Merle A. Knope in Perryville, MO and he preceded her in death on March 22, 2005 after 63 years of marriage. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. Margaret enjoyed fishing, quilting, outdoors, painting, mowing, the color hunter green and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Glen E. (Jeannette) Knope of Baldwin, IL, Norma J. Reilly of Godfrey, IL, Alice “Sue” Thornton of Coulterville, IL, Merlene Filipsic of Sparta, IL and Deborah (Craig) Gilley of Marissa, IL; one sister, Kathryn Grissom of Belleville, IL; thirteen grandchildren, Anthony, Monica, Chris, Beth, Lisa Rodney, Gina, Meghan, Micah, Dustin, Daniel, Chad and Gina; seventeen great-grandchildren, Paige, Dakota, Taylor, Brady, Dakin, Evan, Jessica, Julianne, Mabree Scout, Hayden, Talan, Reagan, Addy, Payton, Chase, Lydia and Brett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Paul Jones; one sister, Mary Edwards; three sons-in-law, Tom Reilly, Gene Thornton and Mike Filipsic.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
