I am so sorry Aunt Jeanne,Scott,Rhonda,aunt Suz and family. Uncle Mike was a gentle sweet loving man who will truly be missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Uncle Mike and you the whole family welcome us and brought us into the family with open arms and hearts which made me feel like I knew you all a life time. Michael J. Szostak, age 69, of Coulterville, IL passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 4:25 p.m. in Chester Memorial Hospital, Chester, IL.
Michael was born on December 1, 1948 in Belleville, IL, a son to Stanley and Frances (Hood) Szostak. On June 18, 1969, he married Jeanne A. Downen in Sparta, IL and she survives. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He worked at Spartan Printing, Sparta, IL, and then as a security therapy aide at Chester Mental Health, Chester, IL. Michael was a member of the Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL, the V.F.W. in Chester, IL, Graphic Arts Industry Union, A.F.S.C.M.E. and the Randolph County Bass Masters. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering and computers.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Szostak of Coulterville, IL; one son, Scott (Rhonda) Szostak of Coulterville, IL; one brother, Richard Szostak of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Suzane Chamness of Coulterville, IL; one sister-in-law, Joanne (Tom) Ahrens of Benton, KY; two grandchildren, Allison and William Szostak of Coulterville, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Szostak; and one sister, Joyce Hall.
Funeral services will be held at Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kimberly Allen officiating.
Friends may call at Coulterville United Methodist Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL.
