Grant's Obituary

ARTHUR, IL – Grant Robert Hay, age 59 of Arthur, Illinois passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.   There will be no public services.  Memorials in his honor may be made to your local 4-H club.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston.

Grant was born June 9, 1958 in Harvey, Illinois, a son of the late Robert G. and Ruth (Porter) Hay.  He is survived by his son, Alex Hay of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Becky Schwartz and husband Bob of Charleston; three brothers, Gerald Hay and wife Deborah of Hawaii, Gordon Hay of Arizona and Gus Hay and wife Carlene of Hawaii; and several nieces and nephews.

Grant was a graduate of Crete-Monee High School.  He attended SIU Carbondale and received his degree from Western University where he studied marketing.  He was a commodities trader with the Chicago Board of Trade and was most recently employed with Schrock Cabinet Company in Arthur.

Grant had a keen sense for business and was good at buying and selling.  While he enjoyed the time he was a resident of Hawaii, he truly found a home in the Arthur Community and took advantage of all it had to offer.  Grant was a kind individual who was well liked and respected.

Grant’s memorial website is available at www.adamsfuneralchapel.com.
