Gledith Chapman, age 83, of Pinckneyville, IL passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 5:56 p.m. in St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Gledith was born in DuQuoin, IL on April 4, 1934, a daughter of Carl and Della (Hazemeier) Rodely. She married Joseph Gary Chapman on October 31, 1954 in Nashville, IL and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2017. Gledith was a homemaker and was a devoted caregiver for members of her family. She was a lover of animals and enjoyed antiquing, word puzzles, attending "tea parties" with her friends at McDonald's, and especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include one daughter, Jo Carol Chapman of Beardstown, IL; one son, Mark Chapman of Ann Arbor, Michigan; four sisters, Paulette Wheatley, June Smith and Cecile Melvin, all of DuQuoin, IL, and Janet Cavins of Murphysboro, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Friends may call on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
