Norma Jean's Obituary

 

Norma Jean McCurdy, age 85, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 5:10 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL.

Norma was born in Pinckneyville, IL on June 23, 1932, a daughter to Vallie G. and Grace (Whitley) West. She married James E. McCurdy on August 11, 1950 at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2016. Norma had worked at Beaucoup Baptist Church for over 25 years as a secretary and as the organist for many years. Norma had taught music to many members of the community and was the Joyful Spirit youth choir leader which was a community based choir. She had served as the WMU director and worked multiple positions for the Nine Mile Baptist Association.

Survivors include one son, Steve (Ellen) McCurdy of O’Fallon, IL; one daughter, Jean (Phillip) Provart of DuQuoin, IL; one sister, Janet Erwin of Pinckneyville, IL; four grandchildren, Angela Wildermuth of Pinckneyville, IL, Steve (Courtney) Provart of DuQuoin, IL, Sara (Jeff) Green of DuQuoin, IL and Chelsea Simms of Berkeley, CA; and eight great-grandchildren, Logan and Madalyne Wildermuth, Brenna, Hallie, Savannah and Evan Provart, and Levi and Beckham Green.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Vallie D. West.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Chet Cantrell officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
