Mary L. Fortier, age 84, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away at 8:04 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at her home.
Mary was born on May 13, 1933, in DuQuoin, IL, the daughter of Charles William and Leona Emilia (Gremling) Beard. She was united in marriage to Raymond Fortier on July 5, 1958 in St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1995. She worked as a registered nurse for 40 years at Christian Hospital NW, St. Louis, MO, and was a member of the Elkville Christian Church, Elkville, IL. Mary loved nursing, her beloved dog and enjoyed butterflies.
Mary is survived by many close friends, caretakers and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Lillian Beard.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL, on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Jerry Aken officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL, on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Perry County Humane Society.
