Allen Ray's Obituary

Allen Ray Crane, age 64, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 8:01 a.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Union Hospital ER, Terre Haute, IN. He was born December 8, 1953 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Jack Walter Crane and Cora Ellen Bennett Crane. On December 5, 1987 he married Janice Renee Arney in Martinsville, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Crane of Martinsville, IL; sons, John Crane (Amy) of Westfield, IL and Andrew Crane of Terre Haute, IN; daughters, Alyssa Crane (Allen Long) and Hannah Crane of Martinsville, IL; mother, Cora Crane of Marshall, IL; twin brother, Roy Crane (Cathy) of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Sharon Ann Sharp of E. Carondelet, IL; Mary Alice DeBarba of Martinsville, IL and Barbara Peugh (Marvin) of Milledgeville, IL; brother, Jack Stephen Crane (Patty) of Cincinnati, OH; ten grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father.

Ray was a 1972 graduate of Martinsville High School. He retired from Amax Coal Company after 20 years. He was a welder and farmed in the Martinsville area. He drove a bus part-time for Marshall School District. Ray was musically talented and was a member of the band “Smokewrench.”

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday March 22, 2018 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Haumesser officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
