Patricia Jean (Gaddis) Barr Cross Smith, age 90, of Charleston, IL formerly of Casey, IL and Big Spring, TX was born February 2, 1928 in Covington, KY, the daughter of John William Gaddis and Katherine Jeanette Parcel Gaddis. On August 13, 1955 she married Jerald J. Barr in Casey, IL; he passed away on August 30, 1983. She married James C. Cross on February 18, 1987 in Neoga, IL; he passed away on November 3, 1996. She later married Paul H. Smith on February 7, 1998 in Neoga, IL; he passed away on December 23, 2016.
Survivors include her son, Jim Barr of Auburn, IL; grandsons, Tyler Barr, Beau Barr and Brock Barr; sister in law, Bev Gaddis of Belvidere, IL; nephews and niece, Curt and Patty Weaver of Casey, IL and Jamey Harthan of Casey, IL; great nephew, Ben Weaver of Casey, IL; great nieces, Kathy Coleman of IN; Leslie Savage Condon of NC; Grete Veliz of IL and Bethany Weaver of Greenup, IL and her beloved dog, Marty. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; brother, Chuck Gaddis and sister, Ann Harthan.
Pat spent her entire life working as a Registered Nurse. She retired after 40 years as Director of Nursing at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL and was previously a school nurse. Pat was a member of the East Harrison Street Church of God in Charleston, IL and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. While living in Texas, Pat participated in Isaiah Ministries and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at East Harrison Street Church of God with Pastor Curt Weaver officiating. Private inurnment will be held in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL.
