CHARLESTON, IL – Rebecca J. Miller, age 66 of Charleston, passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Mary Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or Sarah Bush Lincoln Cancer Center. Becky was born December 29, 1951 in Harrisburg, Illinois, the daughter of Ulla D. and Hazel LaVerne (Hooten) Hardesty. She married Edward Eugene Miller on August 2, 1997 in Charleston and they have celebrated 20 years of marriage. In addition to her husband Gene, left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Amy Evans; a stepdaughter, Lisa Miller; two granddaughters, Emily and Abigail Evans; and her brother, David (Kathy) Hardesty of Arlington, Texas. Becky was predeceased by her parents and a brother, James Hardesty.
Becky was a graduate of Charleston High School and furthered her schooling at Lake Land School of Nursing, receiving her RN. She was employed with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center for 25 years as a surgical nurse. For many years Becky attended First Church of God in Charleston and was currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church family. She was also a former member of Women of the Moose Charleston Chapter 1175.
Becky enjoyed listening to music and was an avid reader. She and Gene enjoyed traveling, especially when aboard a cruise ship. Becky loved her family dearly and her granddaughters held a special place in her heart.
