Dear Dean-O, It was a privilige to get to care for you. You were always polite to me. May the good Lord console your family, especially Wanda. Thinking of you all, during this time of grief, and celebration.

Wanda, Mattie and Rita have kept me posted on the family. I am so sorry to hear of Dean's death. The Texas Helm families have you in our thoughts and prayers.

Wanda, We Loved Dean very much. Sending thoughts and prayers and Love to you. Gonna miss his phone calls. Dean was the nicest cousin one could ever have. He was the nicest man around.

Wanda, I'm so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed his warm smile when I went to Heartland. You guys were such kind, good neighbors to my mom, Dorothy Smith.

Dean C. 's Obituary

Dean C. Rhodes, age 72, of Casey, IL passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. He was born March 26, 1946 in Robinson, IL the son of Ray Rhodes and Catherine Clare Helm Rhodes. On July 4, 1984 he married Wanda Aletha Leighty in Bridgeport, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Rhodes of Casey, IL; brother, Donald Rhodes (Ruth) of Effingham IL; nephews, Scott Rhodes and David Rhodes; nieces, Jodi Kibler and Paige Rhodes, many cousins and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dean was a 1964 graduate of Oblong High School and a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. Dean was retired from the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for Nokomis, Witt and Casey, IL. He co-owned and farmed in the Oblong area. Dean was a faithful member of the Five Points Christian Church and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Markwell Funeral Home with Marvin Leighty officiating. Burial will follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 9 – 11 a.m. prior the service on Saturday morning at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
