So sorry I didn't make it to Aunt Shirley's service. I thought the world of this sweet lady. Now her n Unc Bob can be together once again. Forever. Sending love n hugs to all you kids. Love you. Aunt Shirley, I'm sure looks beautiful with her beautiful set of wings. Heaven definitely gained a wonderful woman. RIP Aunt Shirley

Cheryl,Scott, Becky, Emma & Extended Family, I am thinking of you and the loss of your Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grand. May you find joy in celebrating her life.

May God receive you in heaven to be with your beloved Bob and may your loving spirit always be with children and their families.

I'm thinking of you all and know you will miss her...she was a great mother in law to me for many years...quite an inspiration to me.

Shirley A.'s Obituary

Shirley A. Tanner, age 92 of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:40 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.

Shirley was born on December 18, 1925 in Evansville, IN, a daughter to Byron P. and Vera Alice (Thompson) Cooper. On June 12, 1948, she married Robert Lewis Tanner in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2009. Shirley worked at McCants clothing store for several years. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, DeSoto, IL, and the Illinois Alpha Tau Masters sorority. She devoted her life to her family, dearly loved spending time with them, especially cooking for them.

Survivors include her four children, Cheryl Kilgore of Louisville, KY, Karen (Gary) Kelly of Louisville, KY, Jeffrey (Vickie) Tanner of Pinckneyville, IL and Mary (Michael) Masterson of Independence, MO; six grandchildren, Becky Kilgore, Scott Kilgore (Crystal Lingross), Brad (Brittney) Kelly, Brian Kelly, Tyson Tanner (Sarah Thies) and Peyton (Jon) Gregory; and three great-grandchildren, Ava Gregory, Nola Gregory and Emma Kilgore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Tanner; and three sisters, Evelyn, Eloise and Dorothy

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Preston Foster officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville, IL on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, DeSoto, IL.
