Ira “Rick” Jones, age 81, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 7:05 a.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation, Pinckneyville, IL.
Rick was born on March 18, 1937 in Rice, IL, a son to Ira Emmett and Myrtle Melissa (Hill) Jones. On June 29, 1963, he married Mary Gilter in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Nashville, IL and she survives. Rick was a veteran in the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was laborer for Local #742 for nearly fifty years. Rick was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504 for thirty years and the Senior Club. He enjoyed whittling and loved visiting relatives and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jones of Pinckneyville, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and fifteen brothers and sisters.
Rick’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held.
Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
