Mary K. Simpson, age 84, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 8:25 p.m. at her home.
Mary was born February 24, 1934 in Grays Knob, KY, a daughter to George and Florence (McVay) Kelly. She married James E. Simpson on September 2, 1953 in Lee County, VA and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2013. Mary was a member of Canaan Apostolic Church in Roselle, IL and enjoyed attending and visiting with friends and playing games at Gold Plate. Mary loved plants, gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Julius “Pete” Simpson of LaFollette, TN; daughter, Brenda L. (Victor) Prince of Arlington Heights, I L ; son-in-law, Michael Chamness of Marion, IL; nine grandchildren, David Simpson, Crystal (T.J.) Bolinger, Jonathan Simpson, Daniel (Becca) Simpson, Rachel (Rick) Davis, Daryl (Juanita) Simpson, Joey (Sherry) Simpson, Michael (Kasey) Simpson and Jeffery (Betty) Simpson; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janice (Ernie) Miracle of Harlan, KY and Francis Williams of Loyall, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; daughter, Delena Sue Chamness; one grandchild, J.B. Gross; one great-grandchild, Daryl Edward James Simpson; and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Friday May 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Joseph Crowe officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the family of Mary K. Simpson.
