Dorothy was born August 8, 1917 in Ashmore, Illinois, a daughter of William and Alberta (McDivitt) Stone.  She married the love of her life, Robert F. Lanman on June 29, 1946 and they were blessed with 69 years of marriage prior to his death on April 4, 2016.  She is survived by a devoted and loving daughter, Brenda Holmes of Springfield, Illinois; a granddaughter, Molly B. Holmes of Huntley, Illinois; a great-grandson, Hank Vanderholm; three sisters-in-law, Wilma Lanman, Neva Cutri and Imogene McClanahan; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded by two sisters, Florence Weber and Pauline Stone; and a brother, Guerney Stone.

Dorothy was educated in Ashmore Township Schools, including Little Brick, Olmstead and Ashmore High School.  She was employed at the Charleston Shoe Factory during WWII but most of her working years were devoted to assisting Bob with their Standard Oil Company business.  Dorothy has been a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Charleston.

Dorothy’s inner grace and beauty was reflected in the way she lived her life and treated others.  She was kind, sweet and gentle, always quick to forgive, and a blessing to many who will now treasure their many fond memories.
