Belle Stern, age 93, of Oakdale, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 5:06 p.m. in Friendship Manor, Nashville, IL.
Belle was born January 13, 1925 in Bailey, NC, a daughter of Stephen Hillard and Christer Belle (Murray) Lamm. She married Carol T. Stern in Norfolk, VA on September 29, 1945 and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2008. Belle was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Nashville, IL. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking, taking walks and mostly spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Jerome) Buss of Oakdale, IL; two grandchildren, Michael (Janice) Buss of Oakdale, IL and Kristie (Jim) Panacopoulos of Woodland Park, CO; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Cody and Kaleigh Buss of Oakdale, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha (Norwood) Merritt and Estelle (Romer) Riley; and three brothers, Robert Lamm, Alvin Lamm and Allard (Judy) Lamm.
Private graveside funeral services will be held in St. Ann Catholic Cemetery, Nashville, IL, on Monday, May 21, 2018 with Father Andy Knopik officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
