Sending my thoughts and prayers for you all during this difficult time. I have many fond memories of spending time with Grandma Ruth as a little girl. She was always very sweet to me. Deepest sympathies.

Jim, Jon, Denny and Mary I am so sorry about your mother. She was one of the sweetest people I ever met. It has been years since I had been to your house in P'ville but I will never forget all of the memories. My heart goes out to all of you. Love you, Kay

Ruth 's Obituary

Ruth Bruns, age 98, of Poplar Bluff, MO, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in the home of her son Dennis in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Ruth was born on September 8, 1919 in Pinckneyville, IL, the daughter of Samuel Jackson and Lola Grace (House) Hill. On August 4, 1936, she married James Joseph Bruns in Perry County, IL and he preceded her in death in July 23, 1953. Ruth was the office manager for Dr. Ernest Lambeth for 33 years. She was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL and the Catholic Daughters. She loved playing Bingo. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include three sons, Jim Bruns of Fort Worth, TX, Jon (Patty) Bruns of Collinsville, IL and Dennis Bruns of Poplar Bluff, MO; one daughter, Mary Simons of Bethalto, IL; seven grandchildren, Brad (Kathy) Bruns, Stephanie Simons, Kristi Keilbach, Jay (Ellen) Bruns, Kelly (George) Allison, Sara Bruns, and Amanda Bruns; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Roberta Winterbaurer of Swansea, IL and Sally Keene of Columbia, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son-in-law, Jack Simons; one sister, Helen Bunge; one brother, Eugene Hill; two grandchildren, Jamie Burrage and Todd Bruns.

Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bernard Goedde officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Venegoni Chapel at St. Bruno Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.

Memorials may be made to St. Bruno Catholic Church Masses.
