Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, with Pastors Tom Skinner and Michael Stewart officiating. Burial, with military rites conducted by the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592 and Charleston American Legion Post 93 combined honor guard, will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. In lieu of flowers donations in his honor may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or a charity of the donor’s preference and may be left at the visitation or service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Dale was born June 17, 1937 in Cumberland County, Illinois, a son of the late Royal and Bonnie (Miller) Kingery. He married Patsy J. (Finney) Williams on February 14, 1974 in Mississippi and they have enjoyed 44 wonderful years of marriage and friendship. He is also survived by a stepson, Rick Williams of Villa Grove, Illinois; two grandchildren, Josh Williams of Ashmore, Illinois and Nicki Williams of Champaign, Illinois; a great-granddaughter, Piper Williams of Ashmore, who he never missed an opportunity to dote on or spoil; a sister, Dorcie Chesser of Grand Rapids, Michigan; several special nieces and nephews and their families; and children and grandchildren from a previous marriage whom he lovingly thought of often. He was predeceased by two sisters, Bernice Mink and Lois McGuinn; a brother, Dwight Kingery and infant brother, Donald Edward Kingery.
Dale honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy on active duty from 1956 until 1960. He was employed as a truck driver with NE-CO Asphalt Company for 34 years prior to retiring. Dale was a member of Salisbury Church in Hutton Township and previously held memberships in the Charleston Moose Lodge and Charleston VFW.
Dale enjoyed country living and loved the small farm he and Pat owned west of Charleston which allowed him to pursue his love for horses and riding. He was skillful in the art of woodworking and a pattern was not always required to create a beautiful wooden masterpiece. Dale was blessed with a wealth of friends – maybe because he never knew a stranger. He had an abundance of stories to share, accompanied by his humor and a smile. Dale valued his family and cherished the memorable times spent together and the loved shared. He will truly be missed by his family and many friends.
