So sorry to hear of Carol's passing. I remember her as the lovely, happy matriarch of a big family that was part of a lot of good memories for our big family through 4-H and school activities. I'll be thinking of your family during this difficult time.

Carol Elizabeth's Obituary

Carol Elizabeth Spittler, age 78, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 5:22 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at her home in Martinsville, IL. She was born January 18, 1940 in Casey, IL, the daughter of Leonard Russell Henderson and Genevieve Elizabeth Hall Henderson. On December 29, 1957 she married Michael Lewis Spittler in Casey, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Spittler of Martinsville, IL; children, Kimmerle Ann Keyser (Greg) of Geff, IL; Kerry Lynn Teague (Brad) of Avon, IN; Kristina Jo Hickman (Bob) of Charleston, IL; Kelli Lea Donhou (Tim) of Casey, IL; Michael Ray Spittler of Casey, IL and Matthew Allen Spittler (Yvonne) of Martinsville, IL; brother, Leonard Ray Henderson of Urbana, IL; twenty grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol was a 1958 graduate of Casey High school; while in high school she was the soprano solo vocalist. She was a long time member of the Martinsville Bible Church and was currently attending the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Annapolis, IL. She enjoyed working as a kindergarten volunteer in Marshall, IL. Carol enjoyed studying the life of her ancestor Abraham Lincoln and treasured her Bible studies with Pastor George Nika; she noted many passages from his teachings. Carol was a homemaker and enjoyed puzzles, crosswords, cooking shows, collecting cook books and traveling. Judge Judy and the Golden Girls were favorite TV past times. Her entire existence and purpose in life was her devotion to her husband and family. Her personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was a beautiful testimony to those who were blessed to have known her.

Graveside services and burial will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL with Rev. Rick Emrich officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
