Janet Sue's Obituary

Janet Sue Harris, age 67, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 12:57 p.m. at the Evelyn’s House, St. Louis, MO.

Janet was born on August 29, 1950 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Wilfred and Sarah May (McCrary) Owen, Sr. On June 3, 1967, she married Tom Harris in DuQuoin, IL and he survives. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. She enjoyed coloring, reading, puzzles, genealogy and helping with the race track in Sparta, IL.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Tom Harris of DuQuoin, IL; a son, Shannon (Nicole) Harris of DuQuoin, IL; two daughters, Stacy (Josh) Jones of Cottleville, MO and Salena Sue (Brandon) Bryant of DuQuoin, IL; three sisters, Sara “Faye” Jones of Rice, IL, Mary Ann (Don) Thomas of Rice, IL and Melba (Frank) Dunihoo of Rice, IL; ten grandchildren, Nicholas, Cailyn, William, Megan, Chelsi, Emmit, Janna, Jacy May, Kennedi and Brennon; five great-grandchildren, Carter, Chaycee, Mia, Gabriella and Fiona; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Thomas H. Owen, Ernel Allen Owen, William Dean Owen, Wilfred “Junior” Owen, Jr.; and two sisters, Virginia Lee Valentine and Shirley Ann Risley.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. with Kenny Owen officiating.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
