Carolyn, Betty, and Robert, so sorry to hear a out the loss of your Dad. I just found out tonight. You probably don't remember me but my Dad was your Dad's Uncle (Loren Cox). Don came to my Dad's funeral in 2014 and we had not seen him in years. Had we known Brenda and I would have come to the funeral. Again, our deepest condolences.

Donald Eugene's Obituary

Donald Eugene Cox, age 73, of Casey, IL passed away at 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his home. He was born April 23, 1945 in Bridgeport, IL, the son of Loy Cox and Mary Florence Umfleet Cox. On April 11, 1974 he married Marilyn Schafer in Casey, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Cox of Casey, IL; sons, Jason Cox of Casey, IL and Robert Cox (Debbie) of Casey, IL daughters, Carolyn Salyers (Bill) of Newton, IL; Betty Glidewell (Carl, Jr.) of Jewett, IL and Melissa Ragsdale of Casey, IL; sister, Faye Shafer of Portland, TN; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tony Cox and Robert Pinkstaff Jr. and sister, Phyllis Pinkstaff.

Don was a 1963 graduate of Bridgeport High School. He was retired from Hickox Trucking and hauled grain for Huisinga’s. Don had previously worked for Trailmobile and Ettlebrick Shoe Factory.   He enjoyed camping and the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Memorial donations may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Laymon officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery, south of Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday evening at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
