Fred E. 's Obituary

Fred E. Brown, Jr., age 82, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 9:21 a.m. at his home.

Fred was born on September 9, 1935 in Stonington, IL, a son to Fred E. and Ella May (Chernauski) Brown, Sr. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. On December 17, 1987, he married Joan Nowicki Welsch in Cannon County, TN and she survives. Fred was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. He had worked in the coal mines for over 22 years as a miner and an examiner. Fred was a member of the U.M.W.A., the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Pinckneyville, IL and of the Moose Lodge, Pinckneyville, IL and enjoyed watching Nascar.

Survivors include his wife of over 30 years, Joan Brown of Pinckneyville, IL; two daughters, Tammy (George) Spence of Rockvale, TN and Tara (Billy) Harris of Rockvale, TN; five step-daughters, Gail (David) Vroman of Washington, IL, Cindy (Dan) Prylo of Farmington, MI, Janis Welsch of Pflugerville, TX, Amy (John) Tavernaro of Laveen, AZ and Kathryn Janisch of Algonquin, IL; a sister, Linda (John) Austin of Moweaqua, IL; thirteen grandchildren, Kristen, Michael, Matthew, Katie, Ben, Emma, Tessa, Tye, Janey, Isabell, Alexander, Austin and Matthew; four great-grandsons; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family memorial service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
