Raymond "Butch"'s Obituary

Raymond E. “Butch” Day, age 67, of Tamaroa, IL, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 in St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Butch was born on July 28, 1951 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Harold Raymond and Dorothy Mae (Thompson) Day. On March 20, 1983, he married Mary Noeth in Matthews, IL and she survives. All of his life Butch worked as a garbage handler and he had also worked at Sparta Printing, Sparta, IL as a press operator for 27 years and then at Sisco Box, Nashville, IL for 12 years. He loved his work and making things with wood and was an avid Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Day of Tamaroa, IL; two sons, Dee “Butch” Needham of Sparta, IL and Louis “Buddy” (Sarah) Needham of Pinckneyville, IL; a daughter, Dana Day of Indiana; a brother, Paul “Buddy” Day of Pinckneyville, IL; seven grandchildren, Blake and Kristian Hensley, Dylan and Grace Needham, Wyatt and Ryder Needham and Megan Lee; and a sister-in-law, Gail Noeth of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Christy Lee; two grandchildren, Steven Needham and Amy Lee; and a sister, Vicki.

Graveside services will be held at Mueller Hill Cemetery on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
