I worked with Jerry at Greenup, KY plant of National Mine Service Company. Jerry was a supportive colleague and got me out of many "spec" customer problems. There was no better hydraulics man. My condolences to his family.

Gerald "Jerry" G.'s Obituary

Gerald Glenn “Jerry” Varnum, age 81, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 6:55 p.m. at St. Luke’s Hospital, Chesterfield, MO.

Jerry was born on February 19, 1937 east of Eagle Town, a suburb of St. Johns, in Perry County, IL. He was the second of three sons of Bessie Lorrine (Davison) and Clifford Herman Varnum. He attended grade and high school in DuQuoin, IL and college at SIU Carbondale. Jerry retired as Chief Hydraulic Engineer of FMC Corporation, Orlando, FL. Jerry enjoyed family life, world travel with Laura, collecting antique mining artifacts, chess and cooking.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Laura Marie (Johnson) Varnum; his daughter, Charis Varnum; granddaughter, Maude Varnum; and family dog, Mashka.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Bess Varnum; two brothers, William E. Varnum and John Wayne Varnum (at birth); and a stepmother, Velma.

Burial was at Holts Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.

Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL was in charge of arrangements.
