Doris's Obituary

CLAYTON, Ms. Doris-age 72, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in Flint, MI.  Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, October 6, 2018 with a 12:00pm family hour at Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church, 2120 N. Saginaw St., Flint, MI 48505.  Pastor Keith Bigelow officiating.  Calling hours are 9:00am-7:00pm Friday, October 5, 2018 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507. The final resting place for Ms. Clayton will be Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint, MI.Doris Jean Clayton was born in Union County, Arkansas on September 21, 1946 to the departed Mr. Tom Lovett and Ms. Darlene Reynolds.  Doris retired from General Motors after 36 years of service.  She led a very active life following retirement.  She was an active member of Morning Star Baptist Church serving on the Kitchen, Usher Board and Security Ministries.  She was also a member or many other organizations such as: Eastern Star, Lady of Leisure, GCCARD 3 C's and GCCARD Advisor Board.  She also served as a UAW Representative, Area Action Counsel President, GCCAR Joint Counsel Treasurer and 3C Alternate Representative following retirement.Despite her busy life she always made time for her family.  Doris's love and support won her the Grand Parent Award 3 years in a row.She leaves to cherish her memory: only daughter, Leatrice Denise Brock, Flint, MI; 2 grandchildren, Dalonja Crum and Jazmaine Harris, Flint, MI; 3 brothers, Clifton Lovett-Inez, El Dorado, AR, Jake Boons-Christian, El Dorado, AR, Dimitrus Lovett, Lorain, OH; 3 sisters, Irisha Arron, Cheryl Taylor, Valerie Lovett of Lorain, OH; special brothers, Anthony Bryd, Clarence Gorton both of Lorain, OH; a host of nieces and nephews; 2 aunts, Florence Heath, Lorain, OH, Ruby Morris, Garland, TX a host of cousins; 2 Godchildren, LaShawn Thomas, Flint, MI, Crystal McCadden,  MI; 5 God-Grandchildren, Charmere McCadden, Cameron McCadden, Erica Butler, James Roqumore III, Rineta King, Jennie Roguemore, LaShawn Mance all of Flint, MI; 2 dear friends, Brenda Farmer and Bridget Beasley of Flint, MI.She is preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Eugene Reynolds, Edward Reynold and Tom Lovett, Jr.
