Max was a great neighbor and friend, he will be missed. Sorry for your loss!!

So sorry to hear about your dad. He was a good friend of Gail and myself. I know he was looking forward to meet his new grandchild. We are working in Martinsville Indiana setting up on Tuesday night so we cant make the services. That the only way I would miss it. Pj and Gail Rodgers. We will make a donation to the fair when we get home in a couple weeks

Max always made me laugh and I enjoyed our friendship. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Andy.

Max Dale's Obituary

Max Dale Cruse, age 74, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home.  He was born September 6, 1944 in Lebanon, IN, the son of Walter Ernest Cruse and Mary Helen Morlan Cruse.

Survivors include his sons, Andy Cruse (Whitney) of Marshall, IL and Jeff Foster of Bloomington, IN; brother, Melvin Cruse of Tangier, IN; nephews, Mike Cruse (Christy) of Bloomingdale, IN and Steve Cruse (Cheryl) of Perrysville, IN and expecting the first granddaughter in November.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister in law, Norma Cruse and one niece.

Max was a 1963 graduate of Martinsville High School.  He was a retired auctioneer and also worked spraying, mowing and snowplowing for residents in the Clark County area.  Max enjoyed buying and selling anything.  He was an avid Illini basketball fan.  He loved sports, having animals around and supporting Martinsville and being a part of the community.  Max spent more than 35 years on the Martinsville Agricultural Fair board and looked forward to the fair every year.   The highlights of his week were watching the carnival come to town and watching the kids enjoy the barnyard scramble.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Small officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday evening at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.  Inurnment will be in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Martinsville Agricultural Fair Association, P.O. Box 515, Martinsville, IL 62442.
