Carl R.'s Obituary
Carl R. Jones, age 81, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 10:09 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Carl was born on November 20, 1936 in Pinckneyville, IL, the son of John Richard “Dick” and Jessie Ilene (Chapman) Jones. He married Carol Kay Shurtz on December 20, 1963 in DuQuoin, IL and she survives. Carl served in the United Stated Navy and worked as a laborer for thirty years for Granite City Steel, Granite City, IL with the Laborer’s Local #397, Belleville, IL. He was of the Christian faith and loved fishing, hunting and taking trips with his wife to the casinos in Tunica, MS.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Kay Jones of Pinckneyville, IL; two step-sons, Tim McCauley of Pinckneyville, IL and Jeff McCauley of Dowell, IL; one sister, Dixie (Pete) Lueker of Pinckneyville, IL; three grandchildren, Ian, Brody and Carley; one sister-in-law, Pamela Wright of Louisiana; his caregiver, Nancy Eachues; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving companion and dog, Rusty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Frenche and Wilma Shurtz; and two sisters, Sue Buschschulte and Darlene Schneider.
Carl’s wishes were to be cremated and no services are being held.
Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
