Arthur Dean Smith, age 78, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 4:55 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Arthur Dean was born on May 15, 1940 in Pinckneyville, IL, the only child to Gordon S. and Nellie B. (Holman) Smith. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served in Korea. He had worked as a freight checker at Spartan Printing, Sparta, IL. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, Methodist Men’s Group, Graphics Union #990, and a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Pinckneyville, IL. Arthur Dean was a Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed traveling on Presley tours.
Survivors include his cousins, Mary Kopshever of Pinckneyville, IL and her family, Paul Smith of Eden Prairie, MN and his family and Alan Smith of Minneapolis, MN and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Don Meeks officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Masonic rites will be at 9:30 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation, Pinckneyville, IL.
