MATTOON, IL – Dorothy Faye Scott, age 75 of Mattoon, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 20, 2018 while at her Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab residence. A Graveside Service, honoring and celebrating her life, will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston with Pastor Ed Stephens officiating. It is requested that donations in her honor be made to her granddaughter, Tasha Rhodes, to assist with final expenses. Gifts may be mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Dorothy was born January 13, 1943 in Seymour, Indiana and was one of ten children born to the late Albert K. Foster, Sr. and Florence Faye (Sage) Foster. She was married to David E. Scott, Sr. who preceded her in death on October 14, 2006. She is survived by two daughters, Paula Y. Scott and Sheryl Scott, both of Mattoon; her granddaughter, whom she adored, Tasha Rhodes and her husband Jake of Charleston; and a sister, Carolyn Reynolds of Mattoon. She was preceded in death by eight of her siblings.
Dorothy was a life-long homemaker. She was a woman of faith and a devoted member of the New Mercy Worship Center church family in Mattoon. Dorothy was a caring and loving woman, whose vibrant and upbeat personality and spirit drew people to her. She enjoyed flowers and arranging them to create beautiful displays, but it was her family which was the most important aspect of her life. Nothing was better than sharing quality time with the ones she dearly loved. They will truly miss her and will always cherish their many wonderful memories.
