Wanza L.'s Obituary

Wanza L. Griffin May, age 90, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 4:48 a.m. in DuQuion Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, DuQuoin, IL.

Wanza was born on October 17, 1928, a daughter to Hiram and Pearlie May (Benson) Williams. She retired from Bridal Originals in 1996 and had also worked as a CNA at Perry Manor, Pinckneyville, IL.  She was a member of the ILGWU and enjoyed gardening. Her grandchildren were her life and she loved spending time with them.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley L. (Tyrone) Lindner of DuQuoin, IL; three grandchildren, Kevin (Christy) Asbury, Aaron (Nicki) Asbury and Shawna (Michael) Soares; eight great-grandchildren, Whitney, Olivia, Kirstin, Tyler, Blake and Rylie Asbury, and Madison and Andrew Soares; one great-great-granddaughter; and one great-great-grandson on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry Griffin; six sisters, Fern Griffin, Julia Clark, Zola Westfall, Minnie Moore, Helen Chanley and Verna Williams; four brothers, Ival Williams, Charley Williams, Bill Williams and Floyd Williams.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Gerald Wright officiating. Interment will be at Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.

Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Galum Presbyterian Cemetery.
