James J.'s Obituaries

James J. Reilly, 81, of Middletown, loving husband of Katherine M. (Doran) Reilly, passed away October 24, 2018 at his home.

Jim was born in Bridgeport on January 20, 1937, a son of the late George and Mary (O’Neil) Reilly.

He graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School in 1955 before serving as a radio operator in the United States Army. Jim worked in the printing industry for many years until retiring in 1999. He went on to be "daycare" and Poppy for his 5 grandchildren. In recent years, Jim served as a volunteer and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford, CT.

He was also a member and Past President of The Ancient Order of Hibernians JFK Division 1 in Bridgeport.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by their 4 children, Patrick and Geri Reilly of Stamford, CT; Kate and Patrick Lenehan and their 3 children, Brianne, Sean and Brendan of Middletown, CT; Colleen Reilly and her 2 children, Torin and Katherine Montgomery of Kirkland, WA; Daniel Reilly of New York, NY. He is predeceased by sister Mary Varhol and brother George Reilly, Jr. He is also survived by brother in law John Doran and his wife Jodie as well as several nieces and nephews.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 4 pm until 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:30 am directly at Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church St., Newington. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations in Jim's memory to Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford, CT.
