Kathleen J. 's Obituary

Kathy J. Powell, age 62, of Pinckneyville, IL passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 12:49 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.

Kathy was born on June 11, 1956 in East St. Louis, IL a daughter to Edgar and Marjorie (Blass) Floyd. She married James C. Powell on March 17, 1973 in State Park, IL and he survives.  Kathy was of the Christian faith.  She was a homemaker and loved quilting, antiques, fishing, traveling and especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, James C. Powell of Pinckneyville, IL; three sons, Johnny C. Powell of Destin, FL, Joey Ray Powell of St. Louis, MO and Jeff Allen Powell of Chicago, IL; one grandson, Micah James Powell; her mother, Marjorie Floyd of O’Fallon, IL; seven brothers and sisters, J.C. (Trish) Bishop of Swansea, IL, Debra (Don) Fort of O’Fallon, IL, JoJo Floyd of O’Fallon, IL, Jackie (Cass) Johnson of Collinsville, IL, Edgar (Kay) Floyd of Collinsville, IL, Beverly (Jean) Haffner of St. Louis, MO and Johnny Bill (Mary) Floyd of O’Fallon, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edgar “Shorty” Floyd; one brother, Michael Bishop; and one sister, Sue Floyd.

Private services are being held.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL has been entrusted with arrangements.
