Sorry for your loss. Aunt Joan was also my godmother and always greeted me with a smile and hug. Will always love aunt Joan and remember her kindness. Thinking of your family during this loss.

Joan's Obituary

Joan M. Brown, age 77, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 9:50 p.m. in Seton Medical Center, Round Rock, TX.

Joan was born on February 5, 1941 in Ashley, IL, a daughter to Edward and Rose (Lamczyks) Nowicki. On July 11, 1959, she married S. Ben Welsch in Radom, IL and to this union four daughters were born. On December 17, 1987, she married Fred Brown in Cannon County, TN and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2018. She was of the Catholic faith. She had worked for the City of Pinckneyville for over 23 years as a secretary for the police department, parking meter attendant, secretary for the mayor and as a city clerk. Joan was such a vibrant, beautiful lady who loved with all of her heart and will be dearly missed by many people.

Survivors include her four daughters, Gail (Dave) Vroman of Washington, IL, Cindy (Dan) Prylo of Farmington, MI, Janis Welsch of Round Rock, TX and Amy (John) Tavernaro of Laveen, AZ; two stepdaughters, Tammy (George) Spence of Rockvale, TN and Tara (Billy) Harris of Rockvale, TN; two brothers, Marvin (Zaida) Nowicki of DuBois, IL and Gene (Kay) Nowicki of Cave-In-Rock, IL; twelve grandchildren, Kristen, Michael (Diane), Matthew, Katie, Ben, Emma, Isabell, Janie, Taryn (Cobi), Riki Lynne (Tyler), Tessa and Tye; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Brown; sister, Vivian Hug; and sister-in-law, Janet Nowicki.

Private services will be held.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
