Sorry to hear of the loss of an old friend. Grew up next door to Ginny and her family. What a privilege to have grown up knowing her and the family. Many happy ball games played in our back yard. She was a good ball player. Devoted to her sister Wanda and all of her family. Rest in peace old friend.

Virginia Margaret Shawver, age 91, of Charleston, IL formerly of Hobe Sound, FL passed away at 11:40 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL. She was born January 26, 1927 in Oilfield, IL, the daughter of Francis Sandy and Effie Elizabeth Cox Sandy. On April 24, 1948 she married Robert Evan “Stub” Shawver in Casey, IL. He passed away on October 9, 1995.
Survivors include her sister, Wanda Reid of Charleston, IL; nephew, Rudi Reid (Tina) of Charleston, IL; nieces, Cheryl Norton (Larry) of Martinsville, IL and Sylvia Long of Stephens City, VA and many great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Lewis Sandy, Otis Sandy, Hubert Sandy, Vernon Sandy and Francis Sandy, Jr. and sister, Helen Renshaw.
Virginia was a 1945 graduate of Westfield High School. She worked alongside her husband farming from 1948 to 1961. She lived in Hobe Sound, FL from 1970 to 2005. Virginia was a dedicated and loving wife and homemaker. She attended the Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston, IL.
At her request, no services will be held. Inurnment beside her husband Evan will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date.
