Danny Ray's Obituary

Danny Ray Weir, age 73, of Casey, IL passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning December 17, 2018 at his home.  He was born September 12, 1945 in Casey, IL, the son of Raymond Francis Weir and Virginia Mae Lashbrook Weir.  On August 21, 1970 he married Susan Jane Ellington in Martinsville, IL.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Susie Weir of Casey, IL; sons, Dustin Lee Weir (Ralph Soto) of Glendale, CA and Lincoln Ray Weir (Derrick Adkisson) of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Frances Weir of Branson, MO; Mary Smith (Tony) of Casey, IL and Bonnie Harris of O’Fallon, MO; mother in law, June Ellington of Casey, IL; nephews, nieces, his Church family and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; father in law, Andy Lee Ellington and brother in law, David Harris. 

Danny was a 1963 graduate of Casey High School.  He served his country as a Private in the US Air Force.  He was a lifelong farmer and retired after 23 years from Eastern Illinois University as a building service worker.  Danny was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Casey and a Crooked Creek Township trustee.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting, welding, woodworking and farming.  Danny was always the jokester; he enjoyed teasing anyone he could and above all was strong in his Christian faith.   

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Fortkamp officiating.  Inurnment will be held in Washington Cemetery, south Casey, IL at a later date.  Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 201 E. Colorado St., Casey, IL.
