Ruth's Obituary

Ruth Keene, age 88, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 12:24 p.m. at Friendship Manor Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Nashville, IL.

Ruth was born on February 7, 1930 in St. Louis, MO, a daughter to Fredrick Sr. and Carrie (Sickler) Shack. She married Carl W. Miller on April 7, 1949 in Rector, AK and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1971. Ruth had worked at Decca Records, Pinckneyville, IL and Spartan Printing, Sparta, IL and had also ran a daycare and did volunteer work at the Gold Plate Program, DuQuoin, IL. Ruth enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, and shopping with LaDonna and Jeanette.

Survivors include two sons, Carl “Corky” Miller, Jr. of Pinckneyville, IL; and Rick (Beverly) Miller of Arcadia, FL; two daughters, Vicki (Vernon) Cross of Ava, IL and Cindy Higgerson of Pinckneyville, IL; one sister, Louise Strauch of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren, Bryan (Paula) Higgerson, Samantha (Sam) Meadows, Tessa (Donnie) Witt, Derek (Shelley) Cross, Brianne (Pete) Burns, Ricky Miller, Adrian Smith, Jacob (Cassy) Smith, Troy (Tristian) Smith; sixteen great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl W. Miller; a daughter, Tami Rude; a daughter in infancy; two brothers, Fred Jr and Ed Shack; and a sister, Betty Buser.

Graveside service will be held at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Baptist Children Home.
