Dear Ken and Family,
Sending our deepest sympathy to you all on the loss of your beautiful wife, mom, and "very proud" grandma. You and Pat have been our dearest friends for over 60 years in spite of our travels and relocations that separated us, but our long friendship was nourished and grew with the many delightful calls and annual visits we shared. So many good memories, so many good times. Our hearts are aching with you and we will miss her.

Patricia's Obituary

CHARLESTON, IL – Patricia Ann Wagner, age 88 of Charleston, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, with Bob Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, Illinois. It is requested that donations in her honor be made to the Charleston Moose Lodge #1388 or the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592. Gifts may be left at the visitation/service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.

Pat was born April 13, 1930 in Oakland, Illinois, a daughter of the late John Conway and Monie (Gillis) Mauzy. She married Kenneth Wagner on January 27, 1952 and they were anticipating the upcoming celebration of their 67th wedding anniversary. In addition to Ken, left to cherish their many fond memories are daughters, Jan Wagner of Raymond, Illinois and Kim Mathenia of Charleston; two grandchildren, Jill Frederick and husband Josh of Mattoon and Jeremy Mathenia and wife Jess of Charleston; four great-grandchildren, Siena and Rhett Mathenia, Logan Frederick and Gavyn Gibbs; along with several nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her six siblings; sisters, Dorothy Culp and Colleen Swinford, and brothers, Coss, Rex, Jack and Wendell Mauzy.

Pat was a 1949 graduate of Oakland High School. She was employed at the former Charleston National Bank and Consolidated Telephone Company before taking a position at Eastern Illinois University as an assistant cook. Pat grew up attending the Oakland Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Oakland Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and a member and past president of the Charleston VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Pat enjoyed attending and watching baseball games with her family. She kept in touch with family and friends always with a phone call and remembered special days with a card. She was a good and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to a family that will miss her dearly.
