Katherine was a beautiful woman and had such a sweet spirit about her. It was a joy and pleasure to have known her. We know she is with our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. What a joy for her to be reunited with Arnold and her loved ones. In the days ahead, we pray our Savior will provide her family with the peace and comfort that only he can give.

CHARLESTON, IL – Margaret Katherine Quinn of Charleston was blessed with 102 years of life on this earth before passing away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Katherine was born October 12, 1916 in Paris, Illinois to the late Clarence and Nelle (Sawlaw) Soughers. She married Arnold E. Quinn in 1934 in Brazil, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 1982. She leaves as her legacy a dear and loving family which includes a daughter, Mary Jo Sims of rural Charleston; six grandchildren, Krista Berner and husband Clay, Scott Sims and wife Jacqie, Beth Kitchen and husband Steve, Kelly Dyer and husband Michael, Brian Quinn and wife Bobbi, and Melissa Wells and husband Steve; 14 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Hilah Nichols of Charleston. In addition to her husband she was preceded by a son, Fred C. Quinn, a sister and three brothers.
Katherine worked as a CNA in Paris, Illinois and was a licensed beautician operating a shop in her home. She also assisted with the family business, Quinn Machine Shop located in Oliver, Illinois, and cherished her role as a homemaker.
Katherine shared her love for square dancing and line dancing with other members of the Heartland Line Dancers. She looked forward each spring to mushroom hunting and kept quite busy in the summer months with her vegetable and flower gardening. She always had a project in the making through additional interests such as oil painting, sewing, quilting, crocheting and knitting. She was a fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and was always up for a good game of cards. Her family was near and dear to her heart and her day was made better if she got a call or visit from a grandchild, great-grandchild or great-great-grandchild. Katherine’s family will treasure their many fond and happy memories of this wonderful woman who touched their hearts with love and affection.
