Catherine "Cathy" Perko

Catherine “Cathy” Perko, age 73, of Tamaroa, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 6:14 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, IL.

Cathy was born on February 19, 1945 in Midlothian, IL, a daughter to George and Pauline (Lerner) Doyle. On December 26, 1964, she married David Richard Perko in Midlothian, IL and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2009 after 64 years of marriage. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Tamaroa, IL and had worked as a secretary for the Carpenters Union #638, Marion, IL. Cathy’s greatest love was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Michael (Antoinette) Perko of Pensacola, FL; her daughter, Karen (Randy) Bower of Ava, IL; two brothers, George (Pat) Doyle of Dayton, OH and Richard (Sharon) Doyle of Parker, CO; a sister, Pamela Doyle of Stamford, CT; nine grandchildren, Marie Gomez, Julie Chrusch, Ashley Walker, Lucy Perko, Brittanny Casole, Jean Espedal, Cassie Ortiz, Lori Perko and Kimberly Perko; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a grandson, Gregory Perko.

Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Tamaroa, IL on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Joseph Oganda officiating. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Tamaroa, IL.

Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Tamaroa, IL from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The rosary will be recited at the church on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
