Gloria Jean's Obituary

Gloria Jean Jones, age 69, of DuQuoin, IL passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 8:24 p.m. in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Gloria was born on January 1, 1950 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Charles and Elta (Todd) Kuhnert. She married Mark Jones on December 21, 1970 in Pinckneyville, IL and he survives. Gloria worked in the packing department at MCA Records, Pinckneyville, IL for over thirty years. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs fan. She loved dancing, Motown music and Elvis Presley, but mostly she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Paradise Baptist Church, Tamaroa, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Jones of DuQuoin, IL; two daughters, Ann Jones Clapp of DuQuoin, IL and Danice Jones Utley of DuQuoin, IL; three grandchildren, Trevor, Noah and Khloe’ Clapp; one sister, Eileen (Arlen) Hill of Pinckneyville, IL; three sisters-in-law, Dianna Kuhnert of Tamaroa, IL, Shirley Ruff of Carterville, IL, and Brenda Jones of DuQuoin, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Carl (Mary) Kuhnert, Paul Kuhnert and Ronnie Kuhnert; three sisters, Charlene (Roger) Marlow, Joy (Curt) Donahue and Pat (Jim) McGhee; and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Ruff and John Jones.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL.

Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Memorials will be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Gloria’s grandchildren
