I am so very sorry to hear of Shawn's passing. I remember him 1st learning how to handle the music for the dance floor & how easy going & joyful he was in learning the process. He had a winning smile & a great attitude. I personally, had not seen him for years, but I feel so sorry for Maurice & Leota Winnett & all of the extended family! My thoughts & prayers are with you all!

Shawn Lee Winnett, age 46, of Casey, IL formerly of DeLeon Springs, FL passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 4, 2019 at home. Shawn was born in Mattoon, IL, the son of Maurice David Winnett and Leota Lucille Irby Winnett. On October 5, 2008 he married the love of his life Jessica Dawn Winters in Casey, IL. She was killed in an automobile accident on Sunday, March 13, 2016.
Shawn is survived by his parents, Maurice and Leota Winnett of Casey, IL; his four legged son, Harley; uncle and aunts, Fred Irby, Sue Wells, Linda Carlen and Marjorie James, special niece, Teressa Winnett; father and mother in law, Eric Winters and Marsha (Dennis) Ring; grandparents in law, Fred and Wanda Winters; sisters in law, Amber Winters, Tiffany Winters, LeAnn Warner, Erica Winters, Rachel Winters; brother in law, Zane Winters and many additional in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Josephine Winnett and Elvin and Myrta Irby; grandparents in law, Carl and Maurine Snearley and his beloved wife, Jessica Winnett.
Shawn was a graduate of Casey Westfield High School. He worked for Scotty’s Lawn Care in Casey, IL and previously operated the Turntable in Casey with his parents. Shawn worked for Ace Hardware when living in Florida. Shawn enjoyed motorcycle riding, shooting pool, drag racing and spending time with family, friends and his dog, Harley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Luke Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
