Loretta was a wonderful woman and I have many wonderful memories of staying all night with Linda. It is hard to give up a parent but I know you have many memories that you will hold on to help you through it. May God help you through it all.

Loretta Boyd. wore many hats in my life by the end of her life. She was my friend, my confidant, my boss, a role model, and exceptional nurse, a sensible adviser and one of the finest people I have ever known. She worked for my dad, uncle and Grandfather at The Johnson Clinic when I was young. And , she worked with them at The Casey a.k.a Heartland Manor Nursing Home later on. Loretta Maxine (Ulrey) Boyd, age 87, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Gibson Family Hospice Center, Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. She was born January 10, 1932 in Moonshine, IL, the daughter of Otto Kenneth Ulrey and Bernice Chapman Ulrey. On March 19, 1954 she married Allen Lee Boyd in Marshall, IL.
Survivors include her husband of almost 65 years, Allen Boyd of Casey, IL; children, Linda Diane Mason (Brent); Brenda Kay Whitton (Ken) and Robert Allen Boyd (Vicki) all of Casey, IL; brother, Jerry Ulrey (Marilyn) of Springfield, MO; sisters in law, Betty Ulrey of Martinsville, IL and Lois Ulrey of Robinson, IL; grandchildren, Brent Mason, Jr. (Laura), Amy Gonzales (Johnny), Shawn Mason (Nicole), Derek Mason (Amanda), Brandon Finney (Kindra), Logan Boyd (Macie), Mitchell Whitton (Cassidy) and Chase Whitton; great grandchildren, Jake Mason (Sydney Slaughter), Harley Mason, Emma Mason, Tara Mason, Karissa Dupruis, Brent Mason, Landon Gonzales, Gavin Gonzales, Sloane Mason, Jett Finney, Hudson Boyd, Reece Boyd and one on the way, great great grandson, Jack Mason and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Rondall and Kenneth Ulrey and nephew, Jeffrey Ulrey.
Loretta was a 1950 graduate of Scottland High School, Scottland, IL and a 1953 graduate of Union Hospital School of Nursing, where she obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a RN in the Robinson Hospital, Casey Clinic and Heartland Nursing Center. Loretta was a member of Casey White Oak Church of God. She always volunteered her time with the Red Cross Blood Mobile in Casey. Loretta enjoyed camping and cherished time she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Toner and Rev. Kenny Inman officiating. Burial will follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
