Robert Samuel “Sam” Robb, age 89, of Coulterville, IL, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.
Sam was born on March 5, 1929 on a farm south of Swanwick, IL, a son to Lawrence Otho and Ida Ethel (Cupples) Robb. He was one week shy of 90 years old and was healthy until a fall a week prior to his death. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Korean War. On June 4, 1983, he married Catherine Elaine Kinney at Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL and she survives. Sam had retired from farming and from the State of Illinois Highway Maintenance Department. He was a member of Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL. He loved his Lord, the church and his family and will be greatly missed by them. Sam enjoyed fishing, sports, Cardinal Baseball, Blues Hockey, and traveling with his sister and her husband.
Survivors include his wife of over 35 years, Catherine Elaine Robb of Coulterville, IL; three children, Gary L. Robb of St. Charles, MO, Dottie K. Smith of St. Louis, MO, and Sharon R. Allen of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Sarah and Samuel Robb of St. Charles, MO, Moriah Tageson of St. Louis, MO, and Karen and Robert Allen of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Lauris Dickey of Marissa, IL and her sons, Donald and Connie Dickey of Marissa, IL, Bill and Judy Dickey of St. Libory, IL, Larry and Peggy Dickey of Marissa, IL, and Roy Dean and Kim Dickey of Marissa, IL; three stepsons, Rick and Jane Bumann of Marissa, IL, David Bumann of St. Libory, IL, and Larry and Tracy Bumann of Coulterville, IL; his grandchildren, Chad and Amanda Bumann of Marissa, IL, Cole and Kaley Bumann of Sparta, IL, Camille and Ryan Weber of Marissa, IL, Darren Bumann of Pinckneyville, IL, Shane and Tammy Stricker of Swanwick, IL, Slade Bumann and Danielle Bumann of Coulterville, IL; numerous great-grandchildren; and Catherine’s brothers, Wayne and Judy Kinney of Oakdale, IL and Myron Kinney of Coulterville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Dickey.
Funeral services will be held at Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Jim Stark officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday morning at Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church, Coulterville, IL from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Military rites by Coulterville V.F.W. Post #6865, Coulterville, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church or Swanwick Bethel Cemetery.
