Sharon was a very good friend, excellent co-worker, and generous person. We spent many weekends with her and Bob on their boat. She was also a good poker player. Colleen and my prayers are with her.

CHARLESTON, IL – Sharon Jeanette Kellner, age 76 of Charleston, passed away in the comfort of her home with family at her side, on Monday, March 4, 2019. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service honoring and celebrating her life will begin at Noon on Saturday, with Pastor Eric Harmon officiating. Donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, Coles County Animal Shelter or Carle Hospice. Gifts may be left at the visitation/service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Sharon was born in Charleston, Illinois, a daughter of the late Dale and Thelma (Toops) Keigley. She married Robert J. Kellner, Sr. on July 4, 1987 and they enjoyed 26 years of marriage prior to his death on March 6, 2014. She is survived by a loving family which includes her daughter, Kindra Swearingen and husband Harold of Charleston; two grandchildren, Madalyn Schoonover and Jacob Ard; three stepchildren and their families; two sisters, Carolyn Brown and husband Don of Terre Haute, Indiana and Kathleen Kerns of Mattoon, Illinois; a brother, Larry Keigley and wife Lana of Charleston; and several nieces. It would be remiss not to mention that she is also survived by her four beloved schnauzers, Oliver Joseph Kellner, Megan Ann Kellner, Buddy Maxwell Kellner and Shorty Joseph Kellner. In addition to her parents and husband, Sharon was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Keigley; three sisters, Naomi Butler, Jane Potter and Sherry Roberts; and a nephew.
Sharon was a 1961 graduate of Charleston High School and a familiar face at the Mattoon General Electric Plant where she was employed in Quality Control for more than 35 years. She was a member of New Hope Methodist Church in Charleston and Women of the Moose, Charleston Chapter 1175.
Sharon was an avid BINGO player, loved to go mushroom hunting in the spring, and traveling with friends and family. Each and every year she planted a small vegetable garden that always included tomatoes and was talented with a crochet hook. Many family members have received afghans created especially for them, and one of her creations was a blue ribbon winner at the Coles County Fair. Robert and Sharon enjoyed many good times entertaining family and friends aboard their boat, the Dolphin Bay, on Lake Shelbyville. Sharon’s entire family, which also included her canine children, were near and dear to her heart, and she made certain that all were well cared for. Many loving memories of Sharon will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
